Estimating the IQ of EliGE
EliGE was a good Sc2 player, CS elite player, and the best student in his school - all at the same time. Now he is considered one of the best American players (possibly the best) to ever play CSGO. Notably, Sc2 and CSGO are two entirely different games - Sc2 is a real time strategy game while CSGO is a first person shooter. Given the age and the conditions at which he achieved all of these things - his IQ must be extremely high.
sc2 z-score -> 2.9 (number of copies /10, he played pro games, but he was just masters) It would be unfair to say he was "just" masters, he did do ok in actual pro play. top 1000 all time is the conservative estimate I will run with.
csgo z-score -> 4.92 (35 million monthly players, maybe ~15th best player all time in csgo or so).
class rank z-score -> 2.3 (1/92)
Unfortunately, I had to open up the range of who would be allowed to count as ‘EliGE’ in the simulation, as his z-scores are so extreme. Essentially, the simulation would count anybody with a CS z-score between 4.52 and 5.32 to count as EliGE - which will underestimate his true IQ.
The simulation concluded with an estimate of 145 with a standard error of 9, based on 50 individuals.
